WWII Vickers K Machine Gun mount. From Hampden AD767
Here we have an original Vickers K Machine Gun Mount which was fitted to AD767 which was a Handley Page Hampden Bomber AD767 flew bombing raids to Berlin and Hamburg, which are documented. The aircraft finally ended up at 32 OTU Canada. On 13th January 1944 the aircraft went missing on a ferry flight and the wreckage was not found for 3 days. Pilot Sgt Roland Hayes unfortunately perished.
This item was recovered many years later from the crash site along with several other significant Hampden parts.
As can be seen from the photos the item is un damaged and several part numbers and stamps can be seen. The mount would have been attached to a ring and would have moved via the cogs which can be seen in the photos.
The original mounting ring from this aircraft is also available separately
Hampden parts are rarely found these days never mind ones with History such as this one
