WWII Merlin Engine Oil Separator. Wellington Bomber
Here we have an Oil Separator tank as fitted to the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and was used in several aircraft such as the Spitfire, Lancaster, Mosquito and Wellington Bomber but to name a few. Made of brass it would have been attached to the engine firewall.
Although this is a crash recovered item the separator is un damaged except for a small dink on one side as can be seen in the photo’s
Part numbers can be seen on the remains of the mount which confirm that this unit was fitted to a Wellington Bomber. This item originally came from a former member of one of the recovery groups in Shropshire. Further research could be undertaken to identify which aircraft it came from. The item could be further cleaned and polished to make a fine display item from a historic aircraft.
