WWII De Havilland Mosquito Bomber undercarriage parts. With history
Here we have an original Undercarriage part from Mosquito HJ 929.
This aircraft was a de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito N.F. Mk.II and was part of 410 (Cougar) Sqn RCAF. Flying out of RAF Coleby Grange Lincolnshire on 16th August 1943. The aircraft was abandoned after tail flutter and spun into ground at Balk Wood, Dethick nr Matlock Derbyshire.
Both aircrew W/O (R/78190) Alfred Edward THOMAS (pilot) RCAF and Sgt (1622383) Kenneth John SPARGO (nav.) RAFVR baled out uninjured.
These particular parts are the compression blocks used on the undercarriage system before the use of the hydraulic units used on aircraft produced later in the war
These items were recovered from the crash site in the early 1970’s and would make a nice display item been original parts from this aircraft. Part numbers and makers stamps can be seen on the aluminum plate.
